He is often called the young sun, the hearth, the guardian in the night. He is the protector of flame and life. He is known as a benevolent, even gentle, yet also destructive god. Always ready to help those in need and to burn those he judges as “problematic.”
He is also the god of trust and introspection — it is said that his flame purifies all impurities from the soul.

During one particularly destructive battle between Davor and Bane, Svantevid called upon Tyr for help so that together they could stop the battle and restore order. After their success they formed an alliance in an attempt to prevent the pantheon of war from accidentally bringing about a new age through their destruction. As proof of this alliance the young deity Svarožić was born.

He appears as a burning flame resembling the one at the tip of a candle. While he speaks the flame flares and softens, changing its shape and colour depending on his mood. It can range from deep green, through blue, to bright orange. Around him it is pleasantly warm, and if someone of pure heart tries to touch him, they will not be burned.

Because of his youth he is not often mentioned in folklore, but there are urban legends about the “Flame that burns away doubts.” He is worshipped by various groups — from mothers who pray for the protection of their children who are far away, to bandits who seal their agreements not with blood but with the fire of truth. There is also a custom among young couples of jumping over a flame in order to “burn away” faithlessness and doubts.

Priests of this god are rare — organised worship of this religion is still in its infancy, and worship is mostly performed individually or within the household. Sacrifices to the god are most often offered on the home hearth or on a special bonfire if the person is travelling.

There are theologians who claim that Svarožić’s goodness is tied exclusively to his youth. Furthermore, that this little flame will one day grow into a blaze that will devour worlds and thereby fulfil Svantevid’s prophecy of his conquest of all four corners of the world. Not even the gods know how much truth there is in this, but this god will certainly remain under the watchful eye of both of his fathers for a long time yet — though perhaps for different reasons.
