Umbrus

God: Dragons and Prophecy
Pantheon: Knowledge
Symbol: Black circle with a dragon’s eye in the center

It is one of the most intelligent beings in the world. Silver scales with black glowing edges adorn an egg-shaped creature. When that egg unfurls, the body resembles a dragon with scaled wings and two pairs of horns on its head. One pair of horns curls toward the snout, while the other curls upward. Above the upper horns floats a deep black circle, surrounded by a soft white light.

His origin is a contentious topic among religious fanatics. For his name traces its roots back to the earliest gods, yet he is not mentioned either in the domain or in the form in which he is known today. Only somewhere near the end of the third age does he take on the characteristics by which he is now recognized.

His followers have close ties to dragon blood, and through it he grants them wisdom. Numerous adherents of this god mention how, during the night, they had visions of places where the answer to their problems could be found.

All followers of this god feel an inner need to live in harmony with the world, which may not necessarily be obvious at first glance. For example, dragons constantly hoard gold, yet this is in balance with the rest of the world as many greedily extract all they can.

He is extremely hated by all the older gods because of what he did in his past. Yet he is rather valued and loved among the younger generation of gods. His power does not necessarily present an accurate picture of his role. For such a crucial god, Umbrus rules over only a handful of divine power. Precisely for this reason many believe that in the near future Umbrus will rise and create a collapse in the rest of the pantheon, if not in other pantheons as well.
