A creation of Tharizdun when he crossed over into the pantheon of Chaos.
What remained of him is not merely dark — it is the very essence of primordial shadow and nothingness.
The god of darkness and of all things that happen within it.

It is whispered among the gods that Shar — or perhaps Tharizdun himself — long ago slew the god of caves and the underworld, taking over his domain.
Regardless of how much truth lies in that, Shar’s influence over the depths is unquestionable —
a fact that Zehir still struggles to accept.

He appears as an eternal solar eclipse:
an absolutely black sphere covered in craters, behind which only a faint trace of light can be seen.
From these craters seeps a thick, dark liquid that shimmers with purple, brown, and blue hues.
Some say that from this very substance a humanoid figure sometimes emerges, covered in the same viscous ooze.

In folklore, he is seen as a force of destruction and darkness, but the very existence of Shar is paradoxical.
The Bringer of Night was born, yet he is the living embodiment of emptiness —
the perfect nothingness that existed before creation itself.
The void he represents was erased at the dawn of time, and he yearns to return to that ancient peace of nonexistence.

People turn to Shar’s dark embrace in order to forget — whether from grief over a lost loved one or the bitterness of betrayal.
Those who are blind, especially those blinded later in life through cruelty or carelessness,
also pray to him for guidance.
The mentally ill and the mad, anarchists and nihilists, too, seek his presence.
Those who have sunk deep into depression also pray to Shar.\\  
However, those who must work only at night or in darkness, such as miners, offer prayers to Shar for protection from danger.
Shar is also commonly worshiped by goblinoids and other creatures that despise the light,
whether because they dwell underground or act by night.\\  
Shar’s clergy form a secretive organization that prefers subversive tactics to open confrontation with their rivals.
In many cities where Shar’s worship is banned, these churches and temples remain hidden.\\  

Long ago, there existed a heretical cult that believed Shar and Nuitari were two avatars of the same god of darkness.
Members of the cult infiltrated both priesthoods, attempting to seize leadership and unite the two organizations.
Both gods rejected this cult, leaving its members without any divine power.
