The nation of Tal' Dorei is known for its occult research. Such magical pursuits occasionally encounter artifacts that are too dangerous to exist while being too difficult to destroy. Such artifacts are locked away, deep below ground in the Dark Archive.

This task required powerful occultists to live in the Archive, watching over the magical barriers and potential thieves. As the number of artifacts grew, so did the number of guardians.

Such a large grouping of prominent minds became an attraction in its own right. Soon enough, the gathering was awarded the royal seal and it became the regions largest university - The Royal Dark Archive.
